Lake Tegernsee Piers

Lake Tegernsee, home to the iconic Tegernsee Brewery, is a popular destination for visitors to Upper Bavaria. Tegernseer Schifffahrt runs daily trips around the lake, transporting passengers between the various towns and regularly organises dinner cruises. The company wanted to improve safety and comfort on the piers for visitors disembarking from boats after dark.

They required a sustainable lighting solution that would have the least possible impact on the natural environment and be able to withstand the demanding lakeside climate.
 

Off-grid solar lighting solution 

The LALUNA autonomous solar-powered solution was chosen for this idyllic location. This highly aesthetic luminaire blends in with the surroundings and eliminates the need for major installation work, preserving the landscape.

By opting for a grid-free solar solution, any potential risk of electrical faults over water is entirely eliminated. 

A customised mounting base has been fitted to firmly integrate with the pier’s wooden structure and ensure the luminaire remains stable during storms, ensuring safety for all.
 

Smart, time-controlled lighting 

The lighting has been programmed to reflect Tegernseer Schifffahrt's operating hours, ensuring that the lights are only switched on when needed. This ensures the safety of staff and visitors while preserving the natural night-time sky.

Following rigorous testing at the busy pier outside the famous brewery, the LALUNA solar-powered system was proven to withstand all weather conditions and high visitor numbers.
