Renovation of the Octodure Stadium in Martigny

The former lighting system of the Octodure athletics and football stadium was completely dismantled and replaced with a new LED sports lighting installation.

The previous masts were 36 metres high and equipped with 11 floodlights using HQI-T 2000 W metal halide lamps. The new installation consists of four 37-metre-high masts, each fitted with nine floodlights mounted on lowering crossarms, allowing for easier maintenance and servicing.

The complete lighting refurbishment project was entrusted to the Sports Lighting Team of Schréder Swiss. The ECOBLAST floodlight was selected as the most suitable solution for this type of application. Schréder Swiss managed all phases of the project, from coordinating civil engineering works and electrical contractors to carrying out the final lighting measurements, including the installation of the masts by helicopter.

To further optimize the lighting according to the stadium's various activities, a lighting management system was implemented by the project owner. The installation now provides several lighting levels tailored to specific uses:

• 40 lux for maintenance activities
• 80 lux for athletics training
• 120 lux for athletics competitions
• 120 lux for amateur football league matches (from the 5th to the 2nd division)
• 200 lux for 1st League football matches

These multiple lighting scenarios maximize energy savings while ensuring that each activity benefits from the appropriate lighting level, providing both operational flexibility and enhanced efficiency.
