Stadium at La Maladière in Neuchâtel
Next-generation LED lighting to meet the requirements of professional football
Located in Neuchâtel, La Maladière Stadium is one of the major sports venues in French-speaking Switzerland. To ensure lighting conditions comply with the current requirements of the Swiss Football League and UEFA, the City of Neuchâtel undertook a complete modernization of its lighting installation.
The project involved replacing the existing system of 192 discharge floodlights with a high-performance and sustainable LED solution. Despite the stadium’s atypical architecture, featuring four lighting masts and floodlights integrated beneath the grandstand roofs, Schréder designed a solution that met the site’s technical constraints while optimizing lighting performance.
A total of 94 state-of-the-art BRITELINE LED floodlights were installed. The new installation provides high-quality lighting for players, spectators, and television broadcasts, while ensuring compliance with UEFA Level B certification requirements.
The results achieved exceed the required standards, with an average horizontal illuminance of more than 1,900 lux and excellent uniformity levels. The renovation also significantly reduces energy consumption compared to the previous installation, contributing to the City of Neuchâtel’s sustainability objectives.
Thanks to this modernization, La Maladière Stadium now benefits from a high-performance, reliable lighting infrastructure that is fully prepared for top-level competitions and modern television broadcasting.
